Welcome to the Best of KNYO !

May 7, 2018

In mid-April, the city of Fort Bragg was plunged into controversy over a proposal to rectify alleged violations of Latino voting rights through a shift to district elections for City Council members. The controversy has expanded to include concerns over social media posts by both members of the public and city officials — posts which some residents feel mocked the voting rights situation using homophobic language and Holocaust references. This special report by Dan Young features statements made at the City Council’s May 2nd meeting, and also includes an extensive interview with attorney Jacob Patterson, who represents the Coast Committee for Responsive Representation, a so far anonymous group of Fort Bragg residents that is seeking the electoral reforms.
